Happy Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day I'm practicing self-love. Honestly, I am feeling the most content that I've ever felt about this holiday. So that's a win! Even if you have a significant other or not, let's talk about how to love ourselves more this year on Valentine's Day. Self-love might start with a simple smile at yourself in the mirror in the morning. Have you told yourself that you're beautiful or are you waiting to hear it from someone else? Are you happy with yourself? Do you truly love yourself for who you are and where you are at in life? Do you enjoy your thoughts and appearance? These questions are difficult to consider sometimes.
I am substitute teaching in a high school today on this February 14th. It's bringing back a lot of memories of the person I was in high school and the type of attention and love I wanted from others. I wouldn't say that I was unhappy in high school, but I didn't know myself very well. I wanted validation from others, especially boys. This year I went and got a massage for Valentine's Day. I took a bath last night, did a face mask, and went to bed early. My hot date tonight is with my bed and my sweatpants while trying to get over a cold. I'm showing myself a little extra love this day. I never want to stop loving myself and taking care of myself, so I can show up everyday to those around me as my very best self. I know one day I'll have a special valentine, and he'll love all the parts of me that I love. But as for now, I choose to love myself exactly where I am! I hope you do the same.
